Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Quakenbrueck Dragons (7-6) won against at home 10th ranked Rhein MB II (3-10) 71-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Quakenbrueck Dragons. Rhein MB II was better in third quarter 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quakenbrueck Dragons forced 23 Rhein MB II turnovers and outrebounded them 44-29 including a 18-5 advantage in defensive rebounds. Rhein MB II was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Canadian center Hannah Sunley-Paisley (186) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Katrin Sokoll-Potratz (176-71) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Stephanie Wagner (182-90) answered with 24 points and 4 steals and guard Freya Schmidt (175-91) added 3 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Rhein MB II. Rhein MB II's coach Harald Roth rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Quakenbrueck Dragons moved-up to fifth place in North, which they share with Mainz and Gruenberg. Rhein MB II lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Quakenbrueck Dragons will face Baskets Grunberg (#5) in Gruenberg in the next round. Rhein MB II will play at home against ASC Theresianum Mainz (#6).
