Regular Season Round 16: Jaunieji Talentai - Utena 74-76

The most exciting game of round 16 in the LMKL took place in Vilnius. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Jaunieji Talentai (1-15) to seventh ranked Utena (3-13) 76-74 in the game for the seventh place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-15. But Jaunieji Talentai won second period 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Utena forced 19 Jaunieji Talentai turnovers. American forward Vita Zilinskaite (190-93, college: UTEP) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Irma Raugaite (176-84) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Utena players scored in double figures. Forward Justina Kraujunaite (174-95) produced 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Dalia Belickaite (175-96) added 19 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Utena maintains seventh position with 3-13 record. Jaunieji Talentai lost eleventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. Utena are looking forward to face higher ranked Aistes-LSU (#5) in Kaunas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Jaunieji Talentai will play on the road against Sirenos in Kaunas and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
