Regular Season Round 39: Khimik - Dnipro 74-67

Very expected game when 13th ranked Dnipro (8-18) lost to fifth ranked Khimik (15-11) in Yuzhny 67-74 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-67. Khimik outrebounded Dnipro 45-32 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American-Bulgarian point guard Willie Deane (188-80, college: Purdue, agency: Higher Vision Sports) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 8 assists. The former international forward Vitaliy Kovalenko (203-84) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Khimik's coach Zvezdan Mitrovic used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Derrick Low (188-86, college: Washington St.) answered with 32 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and Australian-Dutch power forward Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 14 points in the effort for Dnipro. Khimik maintains fifth place with 15-11 record. Dnipro lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 18 games lost.
