A very close game took place in Constanca between Farul Const. and Giurgiu. Fifteenth ranked Farul Const. (3-16) got a very close home victory over 12th ranked Giurgiu (6-13). Farul Const. managed to escape with a 2-point win 78-76 on Saturday evening. Giurgiu was trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 23-20 charge of Farul Const., which allowed them to win the game. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian forward Nenad Markovic (199-80) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Serbian guard Nenad Tomasevic (192-84) accounted for 13 points and 6 assists for the winning side. American guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTPA) came up with 13 points and 9 assists and the other American import forward Marcus Melvin (203-82, college: N.Carolina St.) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for Giurgiu in the defeat. Four Farul Const. and five Giurgiu players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Farul Const. maintains fifteenth place with 3-16 record. Giurgiu at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 13 games lost.
