The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (14-2) in Frankfurt on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Fraport Skyliners II (9-7) 73-64. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Dragons Rhoendorf. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 14-6. But Dragons Rhoendorf won second period 25-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fraport Skyliners II dominated on the defensive end, holding Dragons Rhoendorf to just 6 points in first quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of Danilo Barthel (207-91) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Center Johannes Voigtmann (208-92, agency: Limelight Hoops) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. Five Fraport Skyliners II players scored in double figures. American Geddes Robinson (195-87, college: Utah Valley, agency: SDJ Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import center Alejo Rodriguez (203-88, college: Iona) added 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Dragons Rhoendorf. Fraport Skyliners II moved-up to fourth place in Group South, which they share with Langen and Bayer Giants. Dragons Rhoendorf at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Fraport Skyliners II is looking forward to face TV 1862 Langen (#6) on the road in the next round. Dragons Rhoendorf will play against Dresden (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
