Thirteenth-ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (8-11) made lots of trouble for first ranked Brose Bask. (17-2) in Weissenfels on Saturday. The visitors from Bamberg managed to secure only two-point victory 58-56. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mitteldeutscher BC. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Mitteldeutscher BC won third quarter 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Brose Bask. made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American power forward Sharrod Ford (206-82, college: Clemson, agency: Pro One Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import swingman Casey Jacobsen (198-81, college: Stanford) chipped in 12 points. Serbian forward Djordje Pantelic (204-84) produced 12 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Devin Uskoski (201-85, college: Rocky Mountain) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Brose Bask. have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 17-2 record. Newly promoted Mitteldeutscher BC dropped to the fourteenth place with 11 games lost. Brose Bask. are looking forward to face New Yorker Phantoms (#15) in Braunschweig in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Mitteldeutscher BC will play on the road against Artland Dragons in Quakenbrueck and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
