There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Istanbul Universitesi (7-8) beat at home 7th ranked Antakya (7-8) 75-69 on Saturday. Antakya trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 23-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-75 at the end of the game. Istanbul Universitesi looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Antakya's players. The best player for the winners was American center Jessica Davenport (196-85, college: Ohio St.) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Tugba Palazoglu (171-80) chipped in 22 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American Jolene Anderson (175-86, college: Wisconsin) who recorded 15 points and 8 rebounds and Czech Jana Vesela (194-83) added 12 points and 9 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively. Four Antakya players scored in double figures. Istanbul Universitesi moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Antakya. Istanbul Universitesi will meet bottom-ranked Edremit (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Antakya will play against the league's leader Fenerbahce (#1) in Istanbul and hope to secure a win.
