Regular Season Round 14: Hannover - Hagen Phoenix 89-71

There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Hannover (3-11) defeated at home 10th ranked Hagen Phoenix (3-11) 89-71 on Sunday. Hannover forced 20 Hagen Phoenix turnovers and outrebounded them 44-27 including a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Hagen Phoenix was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Alexa Mennen (185-87, college: N.Iowa) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Carolin Christen (174-93) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Five Hannover players scored in double figures. Guard Franziska Goessmann (170-89) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and guard Kimberly Pohlmann (180-92) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Hagen Phoenix's coach Ulrich Overhoff tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Hannover moved-up to tenth place in North, which they share with Hagen Phoenix and Rhein MB II. Hagen Phoenix lost third consecutive game. Hannover will face league's leader ChemCats Chemnitz on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
