Regular Season Round 15: Bamberg - Wolfenbuettel 81-75

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Wildcats Wolfenbuettel (10-5) against eleventh ranked Don Bosco Bamberg (3-12) on Saturday night. Visiting Wildcats Wolfenbuettel was defeated by Don Bosco Bamberg in a tough game in Bamberg 75-81. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Wildcats Wolfenbuettel. It looked good early as Wildcats Wolfenbuettel took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Don Bosco Bamberg had a 27-20 second period charge getting the lead and Wildcats Wolfenbuettel was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-81. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Janae Young (183-87, college: Pacific) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. Forward Alina Hartmann (182-95) accounted for 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Don Bosco Bamberg's coach Steffen Dauer used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Latvian center Ieva Kulite (191-88) came up with 14 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Brianne O'Rourke (171-87, college: Penn St.) added 15 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively for Wildcats Wolfenbuettel in the defeat. Four Wildcats Wolfenbuettel players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Don Bosco Bamberg maintains eleventh place with 3-12 record, which they share with Herner. Defending champion Wildcats Wolfenbuettel dropped to the second position with five games lost. They share it with Halle. Don Bosco Bamberg will play against league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wildcats Wolfenbuettel will play against Oberhausen and hopes to get back on the winning track.
