Regular Season Round 14: Academica - CAB Madeira 62-60

The most exciting game of round 14 in the LPB took place in Coimbra. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-ranked CAB Madeira (11-3) to fourth ranked Academica (9-4) 62-60 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CAB Madeira won fourth quarter 17-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American-Spanish forward Arnette Hallman (199-88) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. The former international point guard Mario Fernandes (176-82) chipped in 13 points and 9 assists. The former international point guard Jaime Silva (187-80) produced 16 points and the former international swingman Fabio Lima (197-88) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. CAB Madeira's coach Joao Freitas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Academica maintains fourth position with 9-4 record. CAB Madeira at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. Academica are looking forward to face league's leader Benfica on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. CAB Madeira will play against Lusitania in Angra and is hoping to win this game.
