Regular Season Round 20: Utena - Sirenos 65-90

The game in Utena supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Sirenos (15-5) played at the court of 7th ranked Utena (4-16). Sirenos smashed Utena 90-65 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Sirenos. Utena managed to win fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Utena 51-31 including a 24-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Iveta Salkauske (195-82, college: Illinois, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 18 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Dovile Miliauskaite (187-89, college: Towson) who added 15 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The former international guard Egle Zygelyte (166-84) responded with 10 points and 9 assists and point guard Rita Milieskiene (175-78) scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sirenos have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-5 record having just two points less than leader Kibirkstis-Tiche. Loser Utena keeps the seventh place with 16 games lost. Sirenos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kaunas Aistes-LSU.
