There was no surprise in Klaipeda where 6th ranked Ruta Siauliai (7-13) was defeated by fourth ranked Fortuna (15-6) 77-70. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-12. But Ruta Siauliai won second period 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fortuna forced 26 Ruta Siauliai turnovers. The winners were led by American guard Keiva Council (172-90, college: Loyola, LA) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals and the former international swingman Lina Aglinskaite (182-87) supported her with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Even 19 points by Belarusian center Lidia Panasiuk (187-85) did not help to save the game for Ruta Siauliai. Forward Sandra Baliutaviciute (182-81) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the guests. Four Ruta Siauliai players scored in double figures. Fortuna moved-up to third place. Ruta Siauliai at the other side keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. Fortuna will have a break next round. Ruta Siauliai will play at home against Utena (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
