Regular Season Round 15: Fisica - Vitoria SC 68-75
Date: February 9, 2013
No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Vitoria SC (7-7) beat 9th ranked Fisica (4-10) in Torres Vedras 75-68. It looked good early as Fisica took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Vitoria SC had a 21-14 second period charge getting the lead and Fisica was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-75. Vitoria SC made 25-of-32 charity shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Fisica was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Jose Silva (194-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points. Naturalized Cape Verdean guard Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) helped adding 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Vitoria SC players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Edson Rosario (193-82) with 21 points and Guinea-Bissau Franklim Furtado (198-87) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Fisica's coach Ivan Kostourkov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vitoria SC maintains sixth place with 7-7 record. Newly promoted Fisica keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Vitoria SC will play against bottom-ranked Galitos-Tley (#11) in Barreiro in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Fisica will have a break next round.
