Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked BasCats Heidelberg (9-6) outplayed at home bottom-ranked KuSG Leimen (0-15) 78-51 on Saturday. The game without a history. BasCats Heidelberg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to KuSG Leimen's 28. They outrebounded KuSG Leimen 45-29 including a 20-7 advantage in defensive rebounds. KuSG Leimen was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American center Erica Carlson (193-88, college: Dixie St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import point guard Serena Benavente (167-85, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 21 points for the winners. BasCats Heidelberg's coach Dennis Czygan felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Johnette Walker (173-87, college: Radford) replied with 15 points and 8 rebounds and forward Martina Kraus (186-90) added 9 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for KuSG Leimen. BasCats Heidelberg maintains fourth position in South with 9-6 record. Loser KuSG Leimen still closes the standings with 15 games lost. BasCats Heidelberg will have a break next round.
