Regular Season Round 30: Statyba - Perlas-MRU 99-98

Eleventh-ranked Perlas-MRU (13-17) was very close to win a game against seventh ranked Statyba (19-11) in Vilnius. Statyba managed to secure only one-point victory 99-98. However their fans expected much easier game. Perlas-MRU was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 31-23 third quarter run of Statyba. They made 24-of-26 charity shots (92.3 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Point guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-91) had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Karolis Brusokas (200-91) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Statyba and five Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. Statyba have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Triobet and Zanavykas. Perlas-MRU at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 17 games lost. Statyba will play against league's second-placed Olimpas in Plunge in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Perlas-MRU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Vilnius S.Marciulionio.
