Regular Season Round 15: Elizabeth-Basket - Tim-Scuf 59-55

An exciting game was played in Kirovograd. Second ranked Elizabeth-Basket faced 3rd placed Tim-Scuf. Host Elizabeth-Basket (14-6) defeated guests from Kyiv (8-8) 59-55. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tim-Scuf. It looked good early as Tim-Scuf took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Elizabeth-Basket had a 21-12 second period charge getting the lead and Tim-Scuf was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 55-59. It was a good game for international swingman Alina Iagupova (186-92, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with 24 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The former international power forward Olena Zherzherunova (191-78, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 7 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. International guard Inna Kochubei (174-82) answered with 19 points and forward Krystyna Matsko (182-91) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Tim-Scuf. Tim-Scuf's coach Inna Kochubei tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Elizabeth-Basket. They maintain second place with 14-6 record having just -2 point less than leader Dynamo. Defending champion Tim-Scuf keeps the third position with eight games lost. Elizabeth-Basket will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tim-Scuf will play at home against Interkhim in Odessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
