A very close game took place in Braunschweig between New Yorker Phantoms and TBB Trier. Seventeenth ranked New Yorker Phantoms (7-14) got a very close home victory over higher ranked TBB Trier (10-11). New Yorker Phantoms managed to escape with a 3-point win 84-81 on Saturday evening. TBB Trier was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 26-19 charge of New Yorker Phantoms, which allowed them to win the game. They made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. New Yorker Phantoms had a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cameroonian forward Harding NaNa (203-81, college: Delaware) fired 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Canadian-Jamaican guard Jermaine Anderson (188-83, college: Fordham) chipped in 12 points and 6 assists. Four New Yorker Phantoms players scored in double figures. American forward Nate Linhart (201-86, college: Akron) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and international center Andreas Seiferth (209-89) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. New Yorker Phantoms moved-up to sixteenth place. TBB Trier lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Phoenix Hagen and s.Oliver Baskets. New Yorker Phantoms will meet higher ranked BBC Bayreuth (#12) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. TBB Trier will play against the league's leader Brose Bask. having rather not much hope for a victory.
