There was an upset in Langen where higher ranked Heli Girls (9-7) were defeated by ninth ranked Rhein Main Baskets (7-9) 81-73 on Sunday. Heli Girls trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 20-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-81 at the end of the game. Rhein Main Baskets made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. American forward Anya Covington (187-90, college: Wisconsin) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The other American import forward Denise Beliveau (180-89, college: New Hampshire) chipped in 19 points. Cuban forward Yadira Francis (186-85) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) and the former international guard Dorothea Richter (176-83) added 12 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Four Rhein Main Baskets and five Heli Girls players scored in double figures. Rhein Main Baskets moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Marburg and Oberhausen. Heli Girls lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Rhein Main Baskets will face bottom-ranked Don Bosco Bamberg (#12) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Heli Girls will play against BC Pharmaserv Marburg (#8).
