There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Mykolaiv (14-16) beat at home 7th ranked Cherkasy (15-15) 82-75. The hosts were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 5-point deficit before their 23-11 run, which allowed them to win the game. Mykolaiv made 26-of-32 charity shots (81.3 percent) during the game. Cherkasy was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Krys Faber (208, college: De Paul) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Josh Mayo (182-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) chipped in 24 points (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Vincent Hunter (208-84, college: Arkansas) with 21 points and 9 rebounds and Denis Ikovlev (201-86, college: Nevada, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Mykolaiv maintains ninth position with 14-16 record. Cherkasy at the other side dropped to the eighth place with 15 games lost. Mykolaiv will play against league's second-placed Azovmash in Mariupol in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cherkasy will play at home against BC Donetsk (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
