Very important is a road loss of third ranked ASC Theresianum Mainz (9-7) against fourth ranked Goettingen (10-6) on Sunday night. Visiting ASC Theresianum Mainz was defeated by Goettingen in a tough game in Goettingen 65-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ASC Theresianum Mainz. ASC Theresianum Mainz trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 20 after three quarters before a 27-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 65-74 at the end of the game. Goettingen made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Polish forward Klaudia Grudzien (183-90) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and American swingman Jenele Peterson (174, college: Whitman) supported her with 22 points. Goettingen's coach Jennifer Kerns used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds by Czech center Gabriela Jandova (190-73) did not help to save the game for ASC Theresianum Mainz. Guard Maria Neufurth (173-88) added 11 points and 5 assists for lost side. Goettingen moved-up to third place in North. Loser ASC Theresianum Mainz dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Opladen and Gruenberg. Goettingen will meet league's second-placed Berlin on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. ASC Theresianum Mainz will play against Hannover and hope to secure a win.
