Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Samsun: Canik Bld (#11) and Samsun (#13). Samsun was smashed at home by 25 points 77-102 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. Canik Bld led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Canik Bld forced 20 Samsun turnovers and outrebounded them 38-16 including a 14-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. It was a good game for American power forward Cheryl Ford (191-81, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). Bulgarian-American point guard Doneeka Hodges-Lewis (175-82, college: LSU, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 21 points and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Rana Derin (175-92) replied with 20 points and the former international forward Meric Yenal (188-88) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Samsun. Five Samsun players scored in double figures. Canik Bld (7-11) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with TED Ankara and Antakya. Samsun lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Canik Bld's next round opponent will be higher ranked Kayseri (#3) at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Samsun will play against Mersin (#4).
