The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#2) and Istanbul Universitesi (#8). Galatasaray (15-3) smashed visiting Istanbul Universitesi (8-10) by 45 points 84-39. The game without a history. Galatasaray led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Istanbul Universitesi to just 4 points in third quarter and to 14 points in second half. They outrebounded Istanbul Universitesi 41-20 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vincentian-Spanish center Sancho Lyttle (192-83, college: Houston) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Belgian center Ann Wauters (194-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Russian center Irina Osipova (196-81) with 13 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Tugba Palazoglu (171-80) scored 8 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Galatasaray maintains second position with 15-3 record having just two points less than leader Fenerbahce. Istanbul Universitesi at the other side keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Galatasaray are looking forward to face Besiktas (#12) in Istanbul in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbul Universitesi will play at home against TED Ankara (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
