We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (6-11) lost at home to eleventh ranked Herner TC (5-12) 80-63 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 43-19 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Herner TC shot 28 for 39 from the free-throw line, while Rotenburg/Scheessel only scored eleven points from the stripe. Herner TC forced 19 Rotenburg/Scheessel turnovers. American forward Teya Wright (185-89, college: Providence) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and her fellow American import guard Quenese Davis (178-88, college: San Diego St.) accounted for 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Herner TC players scored in double figures. American power forward Samantha Meissel (188-88, college: Indianapolis) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and international guard Pia Mankertz (170-90) added 7 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Rotenburg/Scheessel in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Herner TC. Newly promoted Herner TC maintains eleventh place with 5-12 record. Rotenburg/Scheessel at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. Herner TC will meet at home higher ranked Heli Girls (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rotenburg/Scheessel will play against Osnabruck (#5) and hope to secure a win.
