Regular Season Round 23: Bayreuth - NY Phantoms 70-91
Date: February 16, 2013
An interesting game took place in Bayreuth, where 12th ranked BBC Bayreuth (10-13) was outleveled at home by fifteenth ranked New Yorker Phantoms (9-14) 91-70. It looked good early as BBC Bayreuth took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then New Yorker Phantoms had a 26-19 second period charge getting the lead and BBC Bayreuth was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-91. It was an exceptional evening for international point guard Dennis Schroeder (181-93) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 6 assists. Cameroonian forward Harding NaNa (203-81, college: Delaware) accounted for 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American-Puerto Rican guard Kevin Hamilton (193-84, college: Holy Cross) came up with 11 points and 4 assists and Italian-American forward Joe Trapani (203-88, college: Boston Coll.) added 15 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for BBC Bayreuth in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for New Yorker Phantoms. They moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with MBC. BBC Bayreuth at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 13 games lost. New Yorker Phantoms' next round opponent will be higher ranked Artland Dragons (#6) in Quakenbrueck and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
