The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (16-3) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked SC Rist Wedel (13-6) 90-86. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Group North. It was a great shooting night for SC Rist Wedel especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American Davey Hopkins (195-88, college: Biola, CA) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import point guard Augie Johnston (185-86, college: CS Monterey) contributed with 21 points for the winners. American Julius Coles (193-89, college: Canisius) answered with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and center Andreas Kronhardt (204-89) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for SG Schwelmer Baskets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SC Rist Wedel moved-up to second place in Group North. SG Schwelmer Baskets at the other side still keep top position with three games lost. SC Rist Wedel are looking forward to face Recklinghausen (#5) at home in the next round. SG Schwelmer Baskets will play against Hannover Tigers (#9) in Hannover and are hoping to win this game.
