Regular Season Round 22: Crailsheim - Chemnitz 82-71

An interesting game took place in Crailsheim where higher ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (11-11) was upset on the court of fourteenth ranked Crailsheim Merlins (9-13) 82-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Crailsheim Merlins. BV Chemnitz 99 was better in fourth quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BV Chemnitz 99 was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Derek Coleman (180-84, college: Robert Morris) scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Stevie Johnson (198-78, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 14 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) during the contest. At the losing side American center Donald Lawson (208-88, college: W.Michigan) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and Japanese point guard Takumi Ishizaki (188-84) scored 12 points and 6 assists. Five Crailsheim Merlins and four BV Chemnitz 99 players scored in double figures. Crailsheim Merlins moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Finke Baskets. BV Chemnitz 99 lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Crailsheim Merlins will face Finke Baskets (#13) in Paderborn in the next round.
