An interesting game for Lukoil Academik (15-2) which hosted in Sofia 3rd placed Balkan (11-6). First ranked Lukoil Academik managed to get a 11-point victory 82-71. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Balkan. The game was mostly controlled by Lukoil Academik. Balkan managed to win fourth quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Lukoil Academik outrebounded Balkan 33-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. American center Darryl Watkins (211-84, college: Syracuse) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. The former international point guard Bozhidar Avramov (196-90, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Lukoil Academik players scored in double figures. Serbian forward Vladimir Panic (194-82) answered with 21 points and 4 assists and the former international guard Jordan Bozov (191-79, agency: Global Sports Plaza) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Balkan. Balkan's coach Aleksandar Todorov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lukoil Academik have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 15-2 record. Balkan at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Lukoil Academik's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sofia to the arena U20.
