Regular Season Round 18: Antalya - Aliaga 83-78

An interesting game took place in Antalya where higher ranked Aliaga (6-12) was upset on the court of fifteenth ranked Antalya (4-14) 83-78 on Saturday. Aliaga was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Antalya made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Antalya made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international Reha Oz (200-78) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Rodney Carney (201-84, college: Memphis) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Tu Holloway (182-89, college: Xavier) who recorded 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import swingman Preston Shumpert (198-79, college: Syracuse) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four Antalya and five Aliaga players scored in double figures. Aliaga's coach Burak Biyiktay rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Antalya moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Olin Edirne. Aliaga lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 12 games lost. Antalya will meet higher ranked Anadolu Efes (#5) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Aliaga will play against Turk Telekom (#13) in Ankara and hope to secure a win.
