No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Beroe (7-10) crushed on the road 9th ranked Spartak Pleven (4-13) 103-78. The game without a history. Beroe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Pleven's 26 and made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Spartak Pleven 35-18 including a 27-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Reginald Holmes (193-87, college: Morgan St.) stepped up and scored 30 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import center Mitchell Carter (208, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee, agency: Veracity Sports, LLC) chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds. Carter is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Beroe's coach Georgi Mladenov felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Veselin Georgiev (196-86) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and guard Tsvetoslav Ostrev (184-86) scored 10 points and 6 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Beroe maintains seventh place with 7-10 record. Spartak Pleven lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. Beroe will play against higher ranked Rilski Sportist (#3) in Samokov in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
