Regular Season Round 19: Botas - Edremit 73-63

Very expected game in Adana where 14th ranked Edremit (1-18) was defeated by seventh ranked Botas (9-9) 73-63. It looked good early as Edremit took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Botas had a 20-14 second period charge getting the lead and Edremit was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 63-73. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Christi Thomas (191-82, college: Georgia) who led the winners and scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Her fellow American import center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Five Botas players scored in double figures. American point guard Constance Jinks (170-81, college: UNLV, agency: Merit Sports) came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Sanem Gamze Zeren (178-89) added 17 points respectively for Edremit in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Botas moved-up to sixth place. Edremit lost their fourteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 18 lost games. Botas' next round opponent will be higher ranked Kayseri (#3) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Edremit will play against Canik Bld (#11) in Samsun.
