Regular Season Round 23: ALBA - Bremerhaven 81-76
Date: February 17, 2013
There was no surprise when 13th ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (9-13) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked ALBA Berlin (13-7) 81-76 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. ALBA Berlin made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Zach Morley (203-83, college: Wisconsin) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. point guard Stanley Burrell (190-84) produced 20 points and 7 assists and forward Jacob Burtschi (198-84, college: Air Force) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ALBA Berlin moved-up to fifth place. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. ALBA Berlin will face Walter Tigers (#10) in Tuebingen in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will play at home against the league's second-placed Bayern Muenchen.
