Regular Season Round 19: TSV Troester - Licher Baeren 75-76

Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Licher Baeren (11-8) edged 12th ranked TSV Troester (3-16) in Breitenguessbach 76-75 on Sunday. Strangely TSV Troester outrebounded Licher Baeren 36-24 including 23 on the defensive glass. TSV Troester was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American guard Willis Gardner (185-86, college: Colorado St.) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Jason Swanson (201-86, college: W.Alabama) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Licher Baeren players scored in double figures. Johannes Richter (206-93) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds and Johannes Thiemann (203-94) added 11 points in the effort for TSV Troester. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Licher Baeren have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place in Group South, which they share with 3 other teams. TSV Troester lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Licher Baeren will face league's second-placed Weissenhorn Youngstars at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. TSV Troester will play against Fraport Skyliners II (#7) in Frankfurt.
