There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Spot Up Medien Baskets (8-11) beat higher ranked Hannover Tigers (8-11) in Braunschweig 78-71 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hannover Tigers won third quarter 20-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Spot Up Medien Baskets won last quarter 23-18. They made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for international point guard Dennis Schroeder (181-93) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 8 rebounds. Cuban Howard Sant-Roos (200-91) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Nigerian-American forward Michael Fakuade (201-89, college: Ill.-Springfield, agency: N.E.T.) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and American guard Ashanti Cook (188-84, college: Georgetown) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Hannover Tigers. Four Hannover Tigers players scored in double figures. Hannover Tigers' coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Spot Up Medien Baskets moved-up to sixth place in Group North, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Hannover Tigers. Spot Up Medien Baskets will face higher ranked Oldenburg (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
