No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Istanbul Universitesi (9-10) defeated at home 10th ranked TED Ankara (7-12) 71-66. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-16. But TED Ankara won second period 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Istanbul Universitesi made 16-of-17 charity shots (94.1 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Essence Carson (183-86, college: Rutgers) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Russian center Irina Osipova (196-81) accounted for 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. American center Marcedes Marie Walker (191-86, college: Pittsburgh, agency: LBM Management) came up with 16 points and 9 rebounds and Montenegrin swingman Ana Dabovic (183-89) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for TED Ankara in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Istanbul Universitesi moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Ceyhan Bld. TED Ankara at the other side keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. Istanbul Universitesi's next round opponent will be Besiktas (#12) in Istanbul which should be theoretically an easy game. TED Ankara will play on the road against Tarsus Bld in Mersin.
