Rather expected game when 5th ranked Recklinghausen (10-10) lost on the road to second ranked SC Rist Wedel (14-6) 128-115 on Saturday. SC Rist Wedel shot 62.9 percent from the field and made 33-of-43 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 73.9 percentage. SC Rist Wedel looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Recklinghausen's players. Recklinghausen was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. point guard Augie Johnston (185-86, college: CS Monterey) orchestrated the victory by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Davey Hopkins (195-88, college: Biola, CA) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Robert Franklin (195-81, college: N.Mexico Highlands) replied with 41 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!) and guard Patrick Carney (185-85, college: Chapman) added 21 points in the effort for Recklinghausen. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SC Rist Wedel maintains second position in Group North with 14-6 record having four points less than leader Dragons. Newly promoted Recklinghausen dropped to the fourth place with ten games lost. SC Rist Wedel will face Herten Lions (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Recklinghausen will play against Hannover Tigers in Hannover.
