Regular Season Round 19: Karsiyaka - Tofas 87-77

Very expected game when 8th ranked Tofas (7-12) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Karsiyaka (16-3) 87-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Karsiyaka. Tofas was better in second period 26-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American-Georgian Will Thomas (203-86, agency: Two Points) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. Nigerian center Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech) helped adding 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Karsiyaka players scored in double figures. At the losing side Nigerian power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Croatian power forward Tomislav Ruzic (207-79) scored 18 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Karsiyaka. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Galatasaray. Loser Tofas keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. Karsiyaka will face league's leader Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tofas will play on the road against Turk Telekom (#13) in Ankara.
