Regular Season Round 23: Finke Baskets - Crailsheim 68-71

A very close game took place in Paderborn between Crailsheim Merlins and Finke Baskets. Twelfth ranked Crailsheim Merlins (10-13) got a very close victory on the road over 13th ranked Finke Baskets (9-14). Crailsheim Merlins managed to escape with a 3-point win 71-68 on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Josten Crow (193-87, college: Sam Houston St.) who scored 22 points and 4 steals. His fellow American import power forward Stevie Johnson (198-78, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Crow is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Crailsheim Merlins' coach Willie Young used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Vincent Kittmann (201-88) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American guard Jason Jamerson (190-86, college: Grand Valley St.) added 21 points respectively for the hosts. Crailsheim Merlins have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with ETB Wohnbau. Loser Finke Baskets keep the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Kirchheim. Crailsheim Merlins will meet at home higher ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Finke Baskets will play against USC Leipzig (#16) and hope to secure a win.
