Regular Season Round 19: Erdemir - Hacettepe 69-71

Bottom-ranked Hacettepe managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of two consecutive loses. This time they edged eighth-ranked Erdemir 71-69. Erdemir was ahead by 8 points after three quarters before a 24-14 charge of Hacettepe, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Erdemir outrebounded Hacettepe 41-29 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Clay Tucker (196-80, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee, agency: Beo Basket) who led the winners and scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international center Huseyin Besok (212-75) accounted for 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Four Hacettepe players scored in double figures. American swingman Sean Marshall (198-85, college: Boston Coll.) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import guard Gerrod Henderson (192-78, college: Louisiana Tech) added 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for Erdemir in the defeat. Hacettepe (4-15) moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Antalya and Olin Edirne. Erdemir at the other side keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Tofas and Aliaga. Hacettepe's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Ankara TED Kolejliler.
