The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Svendborg (22-4) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by eighth ranked Vaerlose (10-16) 92-89. Svendborg cut a 18-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. Vaerlose made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Svendborg 41-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. American forward Justin Baker (203-89, college: Utah Valley) stepped up and scored 31 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and guard Peter Moller (190-94) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Baker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international guard Adama Darboe (190-86) responded with 16 points and 5 assists and swingman Claus Magaard (194-86) scored 19 points. Five Svendborg players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Vaerlose moved-up to seventh place. Svendborg at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Vaerlose are looking forward to face Horsholm (#8) at home in the next round. Svendborg will play against SISU (#4) in Copenhagen and is hoping to win this game.
