There was no surprise when 10th ranked Dresden (6-14) was outleveled on the road by third ranked Noerdlingen (12-8) 89-70 on Saturday. The game without a history. Noerdlingen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Noerdlingen forced 20 Dresden turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Josef Eichler (200-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Chad Gray (200-85, college: Co.Carolina) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Gray attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. American center Jared Benson (208-89, college: N.Michigan) replied with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks and his fellow American import Andrew Jones (191-83, college: Miles) added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Dresden. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Noerdlingen maintains third position in Group South with 12-8 record having six points less than leader Dragons, which they share with 3 other teams. Dresden lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. Noerdlingen will face Hanau (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Dresden will play against Licher Baeren.
