Regular Season Round 23: Cuxhaven - Vechta 98-91

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked SC Rasta Vechta (17-6) on the court of fifth ranked Cuxhaven BasCats on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Cuxhaven BasCats 98-91. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of SC Rasta Vechta. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But SC Rasta Vechta won third quarter 27-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American forward Scott Thomas (200-89, college: Bowling Green, agency: I.D.S. Law) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Evan Harris (206-86, college: Harvard, agency: I.D.S. Law) helped adding 19 points and 6 rebounds. The former international center Dirk Madrich (211-83) responded with 21 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Richard Williams (178-87, college: San Diego St.) scored 19 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Five Cuxhaven BasCats and four SC Rasta Vechta players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cuxhaven BasCats (14-9) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Karlsruhe. Newly promoted SC Rasta Vechta still keeps top position with six games lost. They share it with Goettingen. Cuxhaven BasCats is looking forward to face Crailsheim Merlins (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SC Rasta Vechta will play against Kirchheim Knights (#13) and is hoping to win this game.
