Regular Season Round 20: Mersin - Kayseri 76-65

The most important game in the last round took place in Mersin between third ranked Kayseri (15-5) and fourth ranked Mersin (15-5) on Sunday night. Kayseri was defeated by Mersin on the road 65-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kayseri. The game was mostly controlled by Mersin. Kayseri managed to win third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Shavonte Zellous (178-86, college: Pittsburgh) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import forward Erlana Larkins (185-86, college: N.Carolina) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. American power forward Asjha Jones (191-80, college: Connecticut) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized American LaToya Sanders (191-86, college: N.Carolina) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Kayseri. Mersin have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Kayseri. Mersin is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Edremit (#14) in Balikesir in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Kayseri will play on the road against Antakya (#8) in Hatay and is hoping to win this game.
