Regular Season Round 18: Goettingen - Opladen 77-54

There was no surprise when 7th ranked SG BBZ Opladen (9-9) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Goettingen (11-7) 77-54 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Goettingen. SG BBZ Opladen was better in second period 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded SG BBZ Opladen 46-30 including a 32-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Polish forward Klaudia Grudzien (183-90) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. American swingman Jenele Peterson (174, college: Whitman) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Coach Jennifer Kerns's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was center Marie Gulich (192-94) who recorded 20 points and 6 rebounds and center Mareike Nettersheim (186) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Goettingen moved-up to third place in North, which they share with Mainz and Gruenberg. Loser SG BBZ Opladen dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Goettingen will face Rhein MB II (#12) in Langen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SG BBZ Opladen will play at home against Hannover (#11).
