Rather expected game in Funchal where 5th ranked Sampaense (8-7) was rolled over by second ranked CAB Madeira (12-3) 103-77. The game without a history. CAB Madeira led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 assists. The former international swingman Fabio Lima (197-88) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four CAB Madeira players scored in double figures. Swingman Jorge Sing (192-77) answered with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and American forward Al Rapier (200-89, college: Stony Brook, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 20 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sampaense. CAB Madeira maintains second place with 12-3 record having just two points less than leader Benfica. Sampaense at the other side dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. CAB Madeira will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sampaense will play at home against the league's leader Benfica (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
