No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Istanbul Universitesi (12-10) defeated at home 9th ranked Botas (10-12) 64-53. The game was mostly controlled by Istanbul Universitesi. Botas was better in second period 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for the former international guard Tugba Palazoglu (171-80) who helped to win the game recording 21 points. Russian center Irina Osipova (196-81) contributed with 8 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Istanbul Universitesi's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Christi Thomas (191-82, college: Georgia) added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Botas. Istanbul Universitesi have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 12-10 record. Botas at the other side dropped to the eighth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Ceyhan Bld. Istanbul Universitesi will play against Ceyhan Bld (#8) in Adana in the next round. Botas will play on the road against Canik Bld in Samsun and hopes to get back on the winning track.
