Rather predictable result in Mersin where fifth ranked Tarsus Bld (15-7) beat 7th ranked Ceyhan Bld (10-12) 69-65. It looked good early as Ceyhan Bld took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tarsus Bld had a 24-19 second period charge getting the lead and Ceyhan Bld was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-69. It was a very good performance for naturalized American forward Melisa Can (188-84, college: Rutgers) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Danielle Marie Robinson (178-89, college: Oklahoma) contributed with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Croatian swingman Jelena Ivezic (182-84) replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds and American center Carolyn Swords (198-89, college: Boston Coll., agency: LBM Management) added 23 points in the effort for Ceyhan Bld. Tarsus Bld maintains fifth position with 15-7 record. Ceyhan Bld at the other side dropped to the eighth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Botas. Tarsus Bld will play against Samsun (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ceyhan Bld will play against Istanbul Universitesi (#6) in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
