There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Kirchheim Knights (10-15) won against at home 11th ranked Crailsheim Merlins (10-15) 86-80 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 24-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Kirchheim Knights dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Crailsheim Merlins' 30 and made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Crailsheim Merlins were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for forward Sebastian Adeberg (198-84) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Jonathan Maier (210-92, agency: Limelight Hoops) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized American swingman Jonathan Moore (203-82, college: N.C.Central) answered with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Josten Crow (193-87, college: Sam Houston St.) added 22 points (made all of his seven free throws) in the effort for Crailsheim Merlins. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Crailsheim Merlins. Kirchheim Knights will face bottom-ranked USC Leipzig (#16) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
