LMKL top team - Kibirkstis-Tiche (22-4) managed to deliver another win on Friday. This time they beat seventh ranked Utena (5-21) 85-76. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Utena won third quarter 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kibirkstis-Tiche made 21-of-22 free shots (95.5 percent) during the game. Kibirkstis-Tiche outrebounded Utena 38-25 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. International forward Lina Pikciute (192-90) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and center Ieva Preskienyte (193-93) supported her with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Kibirkstis-Tiche players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 6 rebounds by American forward Vita Zilinskaite (190-93, college: UTEP) did not help to save the game for Utena. Guard Irma Raugaite (176-84) added 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the hosts. Kibirkstis-Tiche maintains first position with 22-4 record. Loser Utena keeps the seventh place with 21 games lost. Kibirkstis-Tiche will meet at home Aistes-LSU (#5) in the next round. Utena will have a break next round.
