There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Crailsheim Merlins (11-15) defeated at home 8th ranked Science City Jena (13-13) 90-79 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 54-39 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Crailsheim Merlins especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. Science City Jena was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Philipp Friedel (185-87) scored 24 points to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Derek Coleman (180-84, college: Robert Morris, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) chipped in 17 points and 6 assists during the contest. Four Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. British-Australian guard Lee Jeka (187-83, agency: Limelight Hoops) responded with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Lithuanian Aurimas Adomaitis (206-87, college: LIU Brooklyn) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds.
