Regular Season Round 27: Selcuk Univ. - Balikesir 78-69

Rather expected game in Konya where 6th ranked Balikesir (16-11) was defeated by fourth ranked Selcuk Universitesi (18-9) 78-69 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-11. But Balikesir won second period 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was point guard Jeremy Granger (185-90, college: E.Illinois) who scored 30 points and 4 assists. Bill Clark (195-88, college: Duquesne) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Robert Lowery (188-87, college: Dayton) who recorded 22 points and 4 steals and power forward Pervis Pasco (206-81, college: Kansas St.) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Selcuk Universitesi moved-up to third place, which they share with Trabzonspor. Newly promoted Balikesir dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Selcuk Universitesi will face Maliye Milli (#5) in Ankara in the next round. Balikesir will play at home against Gelisim in Izmir.
